While I spend the bulk of my time producing research papers for my academic, I “moonlight” as a policy analyst in my home province of Quebec. Recently, I have been embroiled in debates regarding Uber and the supply-management scheme of the taxi industry in Quebec. As the National Assembly of Quebec (the provincial legislature) considers the issue of ridesharing, I have been invited to testify in front of the “commission” in charge of transports and the environment. Below you will find the notes of the testimony Germain Belzile (department of economics, HEC Montréal) and myself will be giving later this week.
